Lesley Nickleson

Unlike many practitioners, my journey into nutrition didn't begin with a personal health crisis - it began in a quieter way with a deep curiosity.  I have always loved nutrition - plain & simple.

From the time I could read, my book shelves were full of nutrition books.  I have always been deeply drawn to how nutrients influence healing and the body's remarkable capacity to recover.

Years later, that curiosity became clinical expertise.

I have spent over 25 years of specialized experience in Critical Care and Oncology Nutrition, as a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician. Throughout my years in clinical practice, I have witnessed the profound role that nutrition plays in acute care and disease management.

Over time, my work has evolved into something deeper:  not just managing symptoms or matching diets to disease; but restroing the body at the root.

Yet, it was a brief presentation on Functional Foods that changed everything.

I remember thinking, what is that?   Within months I began advanced training and later earned board certification in Integrative Functional Nutrition—a distinction held by only a few Registered Dietitians in Canada.

Each step reinforced something I had long believed:  nutrition can do far more than manage symptoms.  It can help restore the systems that support health.

Beyond Food:  The Nervous System Connection

Even more than nutrition, I have come to understand & respect the role the nervous system has in healing.

From the very first time I sat down to meditate more than a decade ago, something in me recognized its power.  Meditation  became essential during some of the most demanding seasons of my life, and over time that practice developed into formal

training.

In 2019, I became a Certified Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher and a qualified Mindfulness-Based Eating Instructor (MB-EAT).  This work deepened my understanding of how stress, awareness and nervous system regulation influence long-term healing.

Through personal and prefessional experiences, I came to understand something profound:

Healing is not just about food. It is about the nervous system.

Today, the integration of functional nutrition and nervous system regulation have become the foundation of my work.

A Restoration-Based Approach

Over the years,  I have supported hundreds of individuals in restoring energy, improving digestion, normalizing lab values, reducing inflammation and reconnecting with a way of eating that feels sustainable and empowering.

What I know is this:

When we address the root cause and provide the body with what it truly needs, nutrition become so much more

It becomes vitality.

It becomes clarity.

It becomes a return to yourself.

This understanding ultimately shaped what I now call The Midlife Restoration Method - a restoration-based approach designed to support health during midlife.

The Nutrition Solutions Collection

Today my work continues to evolve through writing, education and the development of practical resources desgined to contribute

understanding of how to restore health.
